Amanda and I worked together in a project back in 2016. She did a phenomenal job while keeping a great sense of humor. She will always be remembered as an amazing person to be around. My prayers are with the family and friends for strength during this difficult time.
Kathy and Pete – I am so sorry for your loss. It is such a shock. No one can know what you are going through, but know you are in my thoughts. While I did not know Amanda personally, I did see her with the two of you over the years and saw how close you all are. I hope the memories from that closeness brings comfort now and always.
Cindy
I can’t begin to understand how your family is feeling; all I can do is offer my sympathy. I was friends and worked with Amanda in Data Mining at Naval Audit Service. She was cheerful and great to work with and had a fun personality. A favorite memory of mine was we had a pot luck lunch for our Data Mining group, and along with food, Amanda brought fun little animal plates for us to use (mine was a pink piggy).
You will be missed, Amanda.
Jeremiah, Mr. and Mrs. Lorusso, and Ashley–though we have not met, I feel like I know you all so well. Amanda spoke of you so often. I know all about Mrs. Lorusso’s love of Christmas decorations, Jeremiah’s preferred style of pants, and so much more.
I loved every minute I spent with Amanda. She and I went for a lunchtime walk three times a week pre-pandemic, chitchatted throughout the day, and helped each other brainstorm\problem solve at work. She was so genuine, witty, clever, open, and just everything wonderful. I will always cherish our time together and all of the great memories I have.
No words can describe our sorrow for your loss. Amanda was always such a sweet and caring person. She shared rides to school with my boys, danced at our wedding, ran 5Ks as we walked, and celebrated milestones with us. Her loving, fun spirit will be truly missed. No one can know your pain, but we pray God will grant you the strength and peace you need to move forward with loving memories of your time together.
I got to know Amanda when we worked together on a project at the FTC a couple of years ago. She took massive amounts of data containing various errors or missing pieces and she organized them into the most sophisticated yet understandable spreadsheets I’ve ever seen. She then spent hours over many phone calls explaining results to me, reanalyzing and working with me to get what I needed for the case we were working on. She made a real difference and helped us achieve a great final result. Not only was she brilliant with the numbers and analysis, but she had unending patience and a sense of a humor as we muddled our way through. I appreciated her so much and I really enjoyed our talks about work and beyond. She was a wonderful person, and I’m just so sorry to hear of her passing. My thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.
No words can begin to express the depth of your pain, since it is so beyond reason. I cannot begin to imagine your sorrow knowing the sense of lost felt by everyone who knew the amazing person, and light – Amanda. I had the privilege of being a colleague, but moreover a friend. And I will forever cherish the memories of her diving in to figure out difficult issues at work, or the many topics of conversations share with such an open heart, and of course her laughter. Again, please accept my deepest condolences.
I can’t find the words to express how heartbroken I am for everyone that loved Amanda. She was my first real friend. I can still vividly remember my first sleepover and how she could just tell I was scared. To make me feel less alone she brought out a stuffed animal for us both. Then after she moved we were pen pals. Old school hand written letters back and forth. I told her the day to day updates of my first crush in 4th grade I was too scared to ever talk to. Her family would welcome me with open arms as I stayed there over the summer. I remember all the fun we had at JMU when I would go visit. So many memories. So much love. To all her loved ones, you are in my prayers.
Dear Jeremiah and the Lorusso family, Thank you for sharing Amanda with us. She was a brilliant analyst and a delightful person, and she helped people around her feel joy in our work. Even under trying circumstances, Amanda was ready with a funny remark that always felt wholesome and true. She lightened our loads, and I am truly grateful for having had the chance to know her and the privilege to work with her. I extend to you and all her family my deepest condolences. Monica Vaca (FTC friend)
Dear Jeremiah and the Lorusso family, I am deeply, deeply sorry for your loss. Amanda’s absence will be sorely felt in so many circles. She spoke so lovingly of you all. Even though, I have not met you in person, your names are familiar to me, because she talked about you all so much. She was so proud of her baby niece and three nephews. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you.
