Alice Marie (Howes) Van Jeune, 83, of Deale entered eternal rest Jan. 31, 2021 from pancreatic cancer. Known as “Aunt Alice”, she was born July 30, 1937 to Milton “Mutt” Howes and Alice “Thelma” Ford Howes at home in Deale, MD, the oldest of five siblings. Alice attended Deale Elementary and Southern Jr. Sr. High School. She was known for being a great cook and worked as a chef at many local restaurants, including Skippers Pier in Deale and the original Adams Rib in Edgewater. Her last and favorite job was being the nanny to Kyle and Samantha Cooper. She fought back after many medical challenges through the years including cancer of the uterus and colon.

She is survived by her sister Mary (Larry) Raley of Chesapeake Beach and brother John Howes of Huntingtown, daughter Karen Manns of Dundalk, many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded by her parents, a sister Shirley Howes and a brother Buzzy Howes.

A celebration of Alice’s life will be held in the spring.

Alice will be forever in our hearts. She was so much more than a nanny to our family. She was a friend and confidante with a beautiful soul. Sam and Kyle loved her like a grandmother. We will miss you Alice. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
