Adolph A. Channell

July 10, 1928- June 3, 2022

Adolph A Channell “Pop Pop”, 93, of Port Republic, previously of Huntingtown and West
Virginia passed away on June 3, 2022. He was born July 10, 1928 in Valley Head,
West Virginia to the late Ira and Bessie (Barb) Channell. Adolph proudly joined the U.S.
Navy serving during the Korean and Vietnam War, honorably discharged after 8 years
of service. After leaving the Navy, he went to work for United Airlines for 34 years until
he retired. After retiring from United, he went to work for A & W Insurance in Prince
Frederick. Adolph and Barbara returned to West Virginia in 1996 until 2020 when failing
health brought them back to Maryland to be with family.
Adolph is survived by his wife of 65 years Barbara Channell of Port Republic, Maryland,
daughter, Jackie (Hal) Vaughan of Huntingtown, Maryland, granddaughter Sarah
Vaughan (Garrett Hagan) Port Republic, Maryland, grandson James Whitney (Ashley)
Leonardtown, Maryland, granddaughter Lacey Brunmeier, Fort Collins, Colorado, great
granddaughters Ryleigh Hagan and Amelia Bell, great grandson Cannon Jak Whitney
and sister-in-law Donna Pingley, St. Leonard, Maryland.
Adolph is preceded in death by his parents Ira and Bessie Channell, two sons Bradley
Owen and Russell Alvin Channell, sisters Elsie Porter, Edna Austin, Hattie Hanaford,
Gracie Lowther, Armie Swecker, brother Ervin Channell and great grandson James
Camden Whitney.
A memorial/graveside service will be held at a later date in Valley Head, West Virginia
where interment will be.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Calvert Hospice or Linda L.
Kelley Animal Shelter.
