Martha Louise Wortham was born October 24,1930 in Cincinnati Ohio. She went to be with our Lord December 10, 2022 in Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Fredrick, MD at 92 years young. Martha lived with her husband of 72 years in North Beach Maryland. She joined her parents Ellie Louise Hall and William Clinton Wortham of Jacksonville Beach, Florida in Heaven as well as her brothers, Clinton Eugene and Joseph Cecil, and her granddaughter Lavenia Ann.
Martha is survived by her husband Kenneth A Burris, North Beach; her children Kenneth A Burris Jr. of Warner Robins, GA and Jo Ann Slice (Henry) of Dunkirk MD, her grandchildren Vanessa Ann Burris, Stephanie Ann (Micheal) Glaubitz, Christy Ann (William) Patriarca, Brandon Henry (Ruth Ann) Slice; and Mary Burris. She was also blessed with 9 grandchildren; Gavin, Camden and Hudson Glaubitz, Brandon and Cameron Dykes, Maëlle and Remy Patriarca, Levi and Rosie Slice; her siblings William, Linda, and Franklin, and David; and many nieces and nephews. She was very loved and will be missed greatly.
An Air Force wife, Martha has had many careers. She worked as a clerk for Bell South, in the base hobby shop, in accounting with military exchange, as the marketing director of several large retail shopping malls, and as an assistant with the Duval County Schools. The occupations where she shined brightest was always as the oldest child, a wonderful wife, the most awesome mom, and the chief caretaker of our family. She raised children in her home for over 30 years. Martha’s door was always open, her stove always cooking, the coffee was made, and her arms always ready for a wonderful hug. She wiped our noses, made sure we had Christmas, sat with us in the hospital, took us in when we had nowhere to go, and never let us feel unloved. Martha had a passion for her family, and the beach. She enjoyed a good meal out, an occasional slot machine, and was always ready for a shopping adventure. From Georgia to Hawaii, from DC to SC, from Florida to Alaska and Maryland; and many places in between, Martha always created a wonderful and welcoming home. Martha is in Heaven now, doing the same for every life she touched – making a welcoming place and she will greet us at the door with open arms.
A private celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date.

I know we didn’t get to see each other a lot but I still loved you to the moon. I remember that Shopping adventure we went on in Jax when I lived there after Thanksgiving dinner- priceless memory. Till we meet again yall hold it down up there.

My Aunt Martha was an amazing strong woman who helped build and guide a family of more amazing stong women and men. She always told me I didn’t like her when I was a young child and I never knew why. As I grew up and became a young woman I was able to get closer and closer to her as I spent weekends and holidays with her and Lavenia. I have so many amazing memories of theme parks, midnight madness, family gatherings and love. I am still in disbelief and miss her more than I can think about. She helped shape the woman I became and she will truely be missed. I love you Aunt Martha.

Uncle Ken, Jo Ann and Kenny my heart aches for you a little more, but you had a wonderful wife and mother.
