Erma Croson, 93, passed away on October 1, 2026. She was born on August 16, 1933, in Harrison County West Virginia to Archie Childers and Dora Whitehair.

More than anything, Erma loved her family, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest happiness came from the generations of family that surrounded her. Her children were an important part of her life, but being a grandmother was truly one of her greatest joys. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was not simply Grandma— she was the best grandmother anyone could ask for. The love she gave so freely, the memories she created, and the time spent together will be treasured for generations to come.

Erma is preceded in death by her parents, Archie Childers and Dora Whitehair, and her beloved daughter, Laura Pietrucha.

Laura shared her life with her husband, Ted Pietrucha, and was the mother of Ted Pietrucha Jr. and Timothy Pietrucha. Through Laura’s family, Erma was also blessed with granddaughters Raelynn and Brynnleigh.

Erma is survived by her sons Steven Cooper and Raymond Cooper. Steven blessed Erma with three grandsons, Steven Cooper Jr., Kenneth Cooper, and William Cooper, who each went on to give her another generation to love. Steven Jr. is the father of Kyle Cooper; Kenneth is the father of Kori Cooper; and William is the father of Dylan Cooper and Devin Cooper.

She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Person– her two children Cathy Person and Leslie Person.

Erma had the special gift of watching her family grow across several generations. From her children to her grandchildren, and then to her great-grandchildren, each new addition gave her another reason to be proud of and another person to love.

While her family now faces life without her physical presence, the love she gave them does not end with her passing. It lives on in the stories they will tell, the memories they will share, the traditions they will carry forward, and the love they will continue to show one another.

Erma leaves behind a beautiful legacy not measured by possessions or accomplishments, but by the generations of family who loved her and were loved by her.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
