On Sunday July 26, 2026, John Harvey Brady, Jr., 79, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away at home surrounded by his family.

John was born August 26, 1946, to the late John Harvey Brady, Sr. and Nancy Jean Brady in Prince Frederick, MD. He attended Calvert High School and worked as an auto mechanic for over 50 years. He was an avid volunteer for the County Fairs; Anne Arundel, Calvert, and Prince George’s for 41 years and served on the Board for many years. He was a coach and president for Little League baseball for over 10 years. One of his biggest accomplishments was dressing as Santa for over 50 years. He was Santa in the Calvert County Christmas Parade for many years bringing Christmas spirit to Calvert County by way of volunteering many hours for Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and the Hospice Festival of Trees and Wreaths. He saw many generations of children pass through as Christmas time. He also liked raising animals to show in the fairs as well as watching antique tractors and tractor pulls. His most pleasurable time was spending time with his family.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Peggy and their three children John (Carol), Karen (late Jim) and Amy (Rusty), and granddaughters Hannah Brady and Cameryne Jarrell. He is also survived by his siblings Frank Brady (Barbara) of Huntingtown, William Brady (Pauline) of Galesville, and Edna Morgan of Lakeland, FL as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Mike Brady and sister Elsa Groscost.

August 4 – Obituary: John Harvey Brady, Jr.

My prayers go out to the entire “Brady” family.  In the 1.5 years residing at Calvert Pines, I had heard some of the greatest times that Mr. Brady has spent in the County. Mr. Brady, was always funny, he knew the people that he encircled himself with and you could read the room that he was the one that brought “joy” to everyone there.  Working as a Investigator Paralegal, I would be tired when I arrived home and somehow, he could detect it from my expression and he would hum this tune and he had a very nice voice–immediately my thoughts went to “Frank Sinatra” and it was my nickname for him in every greeting.  His smile was radiant and could brighten your day.  He was good to many in the complex, to the point that there were a few that I felt had a “sister/brother” respect between one another.  I pray that Mr. Brady’s transition to see GOD is a pleasant one and that when that “Book” opens, there is nothing less of “greatness”.  You will be missed Mr. Brady.  Your spirit lives on in your family–I see it often!  To the family:  may peace steady you, faith protects you, salvation secures you and the Lord’s scriptures sustain them.  Thank you Mr. Brady for ALWAYS being kind and full of laughter.  Ms. Linda
