Gregory Thomas Gibson passed away suddenly on February 10, 2026 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Greg was born on December 23, 1952 to Joseph Thomas and Hilda Jane (Knipe) Gibson in Washington, DC.

Greg was raised in Tracy’s Landing and resided there until his passing. He helped on the family farm raising tobacco. He graduated from Southern High School in 1971. In August of 1975, he became a career firefighter and was promoted to pump operator (engineman). He retired in 1999. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and crabbing until his health limited his ability. He enjoyed sitting on his screened-in porch eating crabs, but his most enjoyment was spending time with his family.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joseph L. Gibson. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Ruth Anne Gibson, son Jeffrey Gibson (Allison), and grandchildren Joseph and Rachel Gibson. He was so proud of and loved his grandchildren. He also loved his 2 yorkies, Charlie and Lucy. He was a devoted husband, grandfather, and uncle, and was a true friend.

Greg leaves an empty space in all our hearts. He will be missed by his family and friends. He will always be in our hearts and loved by us. Until we meet again, rest in peace.

February 16 – Obituary: Gregory Thomas Gibson

It’s says to leave a memory, how do you choose just one? I’d like to think I’d be brave enough to stand up and say this Monday but I’m not. He was my Uncle, one of the village that helped raise me. My very first memory of uncle Greg was him being at the house before he married Aunt Fan. I went on my first camping trip, my first amusement park with them.
Staying weekends with them, I can remember him studying for the Fire department test. He was the first person to introduce me to that blue grass music. (Which I wasn’t really crazy about, but he did so I listened). I’ve always have had a close relationship with him and aunt fan yet these past 12 years we’ve became closer. Your presence in my life and all those who loved you will be forever missed. We were living the dream till we weren’t. Rest easy with all those who went before I know your in good hands and know I’ll always be here for your Ruth!
