Pat Selby, 81, formerly of Surfside Beach, SC, died Monday, June 23, 2025 at the home of her daughter, Lisa Selby Von Nessen, in St. Leonard.

She was born December 6, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to the late John “Sonny” Polen and Frances Linscott.

On August 23, 1962 she was married to Howard “Skip” Selby who preceded her in death March 4, 1993.

For many years she worked for W. Bell & Co. in Rockville, MD, then enjoyed a second career at LandSouth in Myrtle Beach, SC.

She enjoyed volleyball and working on her tan. She loved entertaining at the beach house and no one was ever turned away from her Thanksgiving feasts at the cabin. She travelled much of the country by motorcycle with her special friend, Dick Arneson.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a son, Scott Selby, Montpelier, VA; granddaughters: Liz Whetstone, Huntingtown, MD, Sarah Von Nessen, Irvine, CA and Victoria Von Nessen, Mechanicsville, MD; precious great-granddaughter, Lilith Grace; and devoted cousin, Lois Prochaska, Dubuque, IA.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 am at Christ Church, Port Republic, MD. A celebration of life will follow in September at Myrtle Beach, SC
