Dorothy (Dottie) Brashears, 95, of Edgewater, MD passed away on December 19, 2024 at Brightview South River Assisted Living in Edgewater.

Dorothy was born on July 28, 1929 in Annapolis, MD, the daughter of the late Homer Elwood Dawson and Hazel Stallings Dawson. She was raised in Mayo, where she met her husband, David Brashears. After their marriage in 1950, Dorothy and David raised their family in Mayo. Eventually they moved to Annapolis. Upon retirement they moved to New Bern, NC where they enjoyed life in a golf club community.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, David Brashears, 2016; her siblings, Shirley Crawford, Louise Whetzel, Homer Dawson and Hazel Luttrell.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Patricia Pumphrey (Richard) of Dunkirk, MD, Michele Wilson (Richard) of Odenton, MD, grandsons Adam Pumphrey (Michelle), Steve Pumphrey (Carly), David Wilson (Stephanie), and great-grandchildren Cole, Beau, Aubrey, Sadie, Charlotte, and Paige.
