Kathryn Arlene “Kathie” King, 63, of Lusby, MD, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024. Born on March 8, 1961, in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England, she was the beloved daughter of the late Fred Lewis Hill and Janet Marie (Cantrelle) Hill.

Kathie married the love of her life, William “Bill” King, in April 1982 in Upper Marlboro, MD. Together, they built a beautiful family, and in 1988, they moved to Calvert County from Brandywine, MD. Kathie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to nurturing and loving those around her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill King of Lusby, MD. Kathie leaves behind her five children: Tracy Carter of California, MD, Michael King of Leonardtown, MD, Amy Samples of Glen Burnie, MD, Joshua King of Lusby, MD, and Matthew King of Rockville, MD. She was also a beloved sister to Fred Hill, Jr. (Diane), of Longmont, CO, Beccie Schillerstrom (Mark)of Peoria, AZ, and David Hill (Kathy) of Mechanicsville, MD. Kathie cherished her nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

A proud graduate of Surrattsville High School in Clinton, MD, class of 1979, Kathie went on to become a home daycare provider, caring for countless children over more than 20 years. She loved her daycare kids as if they were her own, forming lasting bonds with many families.

Kathie had many passions. She was a talented cook and baker, often delighting family and friends with her culinary creations. She had a love for collecting unique items, including cookie jars, TY Mini Beanie Babies, and Matchbox muscle cars from the 1970s. Her favorite color was blue, which perfectly reflected her vibrant and warm personality.

Above all, Kathie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her legacy of love, generosity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

The family will receive friends for a Life Celebration Visitation on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 11am until 1 pm at the Rausch Funeral Home, 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD. Interment will be private.
