L. Charlene Barrett

L. Charlene Barrett, 86, of Solomons, Maryland, passed away on July 20, 2024. Charlene was born June 15, 1938 to Charles William and Lue C. Anderson in Parkersburg, West Virginia. When she went off to college, she met and married her husband of 65 years, Curtiss Barrett. Two daughters were born of this marriage, Deborah Barrett Wilkinson (Ron) and Robin Barrett Jordan (John). She also has six grandchildren – Matthew Wilkinson (Crystal), Philip Wilkinson (Amy), Erin Kassouf (Andrew), Heather Robinson (Drew), Kyle Dearstine, and Ryan Dearstine; and nine great-grandchildren – Elisha (10), Christian (9), Madison (7), Rebekah (7), Blake (6), Nathaniel (5), Madelynn (5), Noelle (3), and Gabriel (18 mo.).
Charlene loved to sing and was always involved in her local church choir, she was also a member of Calvert County’s Sweet Adelines for a number of years. Charlene was a member of the Calvert Elks lodge, and she was active in ballroom dancing until her recollection of steps was taken from her. She and Curt traveled the world in their younger days and enjoyed many hours boating on the Chesapeake Bay. Charlene loved sewing and quilting and also spent much of her free time doing cross-stitch.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday July 30, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Rausch Funeral Home in Port Republic, MD. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Chesapeake Highland Memorial Gardens in Port Republic, MD.
