Frederick Oliver Gott, “Fred”
May 22, 1943 – February 21, 2024
Frederick Oliver Gott,80, of Port Republic, Maryland passed away at his home with his loving wife beside him on February 21, 2024. Fred was born on May 22, 1943 at his home in Mutual, Maryland to Walter M. Gott, Sr. and Alice Eva Gott. He was the baby of six siblings. He graduated from the old Calvert High School in 1961. Fred served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Colorado from 1967 to 1969.
Fred was raised on the Gott’s family farm working in the tobacco fields, raising soybeans and corn and helping with the farm animals. As a young working man, his first job was with Colonel Saunders chicken farm right next door. He also worked for Dorsey Gray ford for 32 years as a Part Assistance Manager. He worked many other jobs in his career at The Enquire Gazette, Lusby Motor co. and The Gott Company.
Fred had two favorite sayings, “Poor Fred” and “I did this in the Army”. He loved his cars always washing, waxing and keeping them shinning all the time. His first vehicle was a 1956 Studebaker, but his true love was the ford Mustangs. Fred had many hobbies which included ice skating, shooting pool with his friends and family and going deer, goose, and wild turkey hunting with his brothers. He also enjoyed playing softball for the Dorsey Gray Ford Team, joining the Old Timers 35 and over Team. He loved going to Potomac Speedway at Budds Creek watching the dirt track races. In his crazy wild side younger years, Fred and his friend Joe would go from beach to beach drinking beer and chasing women. He loved to watch wrestling, Baseball, basketball and football. He was an avid Ravens fan. He loved to watch the old western movies including Gunsmoke and the Rifleman, etc. He would always say to Mary, I haven’t seen this one before. After retirement he became one of McDonalds members breakfast team, which is a very lively bunch to be around.
Fred leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Hellen (Wallace) Gott. Brother of. Ruby Alice (Gott)
Seyffert, and Mason Lee Gott (Connie). He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Linda Lee Gott and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter M. Sr. and Alice E. Gott, siblings; Walter M. Gott, Jr and his wife Joan., James Thomas Gott, and Agnes E. (Gott) Draper and her husband Richard. His beloved furry babies: Fluffy, Stacey, Gypsy, Bear, and Taz.

Dear Mary, Mason and I are sending all our love and support at this very sad time. We are here for you anytime. Fred was a very respectful man and loved you so very much. He was so silly sometimes we would just laugh. We are praying for you through this very very difficult time. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do for you. Fred will be missed by so very much. Please let us help you with anything my dear. We love you ❤️🙏🙏🙏
Uncle Fred, as one of my 4 crazy uncles, you left me MANY fond and funny memories. Being the youngest uncle, I remember hanging with you and talking to you when we came every year for Thanksgiving. You helped Randy, Nanci and I get in trouble chasing chickens, throw corn cobs, make the pigs squeal, figure out how to work the old pump, run through the cornfields, and escape Grandma’s broom 🥰 You taught us to help with the tobacco and corn, and notice animals and interesting things in the fields. You taught us how to engage in “friendly fire” as you and Mason picked on us “unmercifully”! We all love you Fred ❤️
Dear Mary and extended family,
It is with great sorrow that we learned of Freddy’s passing. He was such a warm and friendly neighbor for all these many years. We know this is a very difficult time for you and the family. You are in our thoughts and our prayers.
Love, Carol, Steve, Byron, and Natalia Dunlap
MARY: You were blessed to have Freddie as your husband and best friend. You and Freddie had many years of happiness together and both of you were role models for the young people to see how two people could have a strong marriage. Freddie didn’t talk a lot but when he did his words were from his heart to his “Class of 1961 Friends” and their spouses when they were together at the monthly luncheons. God Bless U Mary!
Mary,
As an “Early Service” parishioner, I have always noticed how tightly bonded you and Fred were~You two embodied the term “As One.” My prayers for you, My Dear. Sometime, I would love to hear your Love Story.

Mary,
I grew up with the Gotts living right below us on Broomes Island Rd. Dealt with Freddie at Dorsey Gray. I was temp. parts
person (along with my real job in the installation dept.) at the Gott Co. when Fred was hired and also when SMO took over until he went to La Plata. I would periodically ask my brother, Dennis Pardoe, if he had seen either of you and to say hello for me.
Fred was an awfully kind, thoughtful, decent person and that is hard to find these days. I am so sorry for your loss. You were his world and I am sure you are devastated but know that he is in a much better place and is now your guardian angel. Please accept my sympathy and best wishes for you in the future.
