Elwood Calton “Buck” Holsworth, Jr.
December 29, 1936 – February 15, 2024
Elwood Calton Holsworth Jr., 87, passed away on February 15, 2024. He was born on December 29, 1936 in New Jersey. His parents Elwood and Elizabeth traveled from New Jersey to Pennsylvania and then on to Maryland with their 4 children Donald, Buck, Glen and Barbara. When Elwood was young, he used to shoot squirrels in the backyard. This was how he earned his nickname, “Buckshot.” Once he got older, he was simply known as Buck.
Buck loved many different outdoor activities, like hunting and fishing. Buck and his brother Glen opened up Holsworth Autobody where they fixed and painted cars.
Buck married Janet Elaine Holsworth in 1967 and welcomed a son, Adam Matthew Holsworth in 1980. They enjoyed going on cruises with friends.
There was no one who ever met Buck, that didn’t like him. He had a great friendly personality and he oozed kindness. He would do anything for anyone. Buck could talk to anyone for long periods of time.
In 2011 and 2014, Buck became a granddad. He absolutely loved seeing his grandsons grow. Matthew and Joshua speak fondly of their silly Western-watching Granddad.
After losing Janet in 2021, Buck moved into an assisted living facility in Harwood. He loved the attendants who cared for him and they seemed to enjoy his company as well.
Buck is survived by his sister Barbara Henderson, many nieces and nephews, son and daughter-in-law Adam and Cindy Holsworth, and his two grandsons Matthew and Joshua. He had many friends near and far. Buck will be missed terribly, but we will always remember his infectious smile and fascinating conversations.
