George Harrison Post

George Harrison Post, 78, of Dunkirk passed away November 23, 2023, at his home. He was born October 11, 1945 in Washington, DC to George Washington and Ethel Ann Bishop. George was raised in Loveville and later moved to Ft. Lauderdale with his family for several years before moving back to Maryland and settling in College Park. He attended High Point High School. George joined the United States Air Force at 19 years old on September 20, 1965 and worked as a hydraulic mechanic while stationed in Charleston, SC during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on January 27, 1969. George married Kathleen Davidson on November 17, 1972, and they lived in Laurel and Wayson’s Corner before moving to Dunkirk in 1992. George worked as a mechanic and later a parts technician for Montgomery County Government. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, making fishing flies for fly fishing, cutting grass, painting, and building things.
George is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Post, son Richard Post and his wife Jana, grandchildren Patrick Davidson, Jacob, Grayson, Tyler, and Lindsay Post, and Alexa Clarke and her husband Jamie, great-grandchildren Noah Clarke and Evelyn Davidson, and brothers Richard and Stanley Post. He was preceded in death by his daughter Dawn Davidson and great-granddaughter Emma Clarke.
