Peter Daniel Tomlin, affectionately known as Pete, departed this earthly life on September 22, 2023, in Owings, MD, at the age of 37. He was born on January 9, 1986, and his passing has left a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Pete will be remembered as a man of exceptional character, possessing a gentle spirit and a warm heart. His loving, charismatic nature endeared him to all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. Pete’s dedication to his family, friends, and community was unwavering, and his selflessness knew no bounds. He had a remarkable sense of humor, always finding a way to brighten any room with his infectious laughter and witty jokes.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Manda, with whom he shared a timeless love, and their two precious children, Owen, and Noah. Pete was a devoted son to his parents, Sheryl and Chuck, and a dear brother to his siblings, Chris and Matt. Pete’s memory will also be cherished by his mother-in-law, Dawn, and his sisters-in-law’s, Jackie, Natalie, Morgan, and Madison. The lives of Gwen, Chase, Abby, Izzy, Houston, Walker, Jacobi, Madison, and Brooks were deeply enriched by the love and guidance of their beloved uncle.
Pete pursued higher education at Penn State, further enriching his knowledge and skills. His love for the water and his desire to always help propelled him to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard for 15 honorable years. With great pride and dedication, Pete held various positions within the Coast Guard, ultimately achieving a commission as an officer in 2021. His unwavering commitment and bravery in the face of adversity are testaments to his exceptional character.
When not serving his country, Pete found solace in his hobbies, such as playing with his children, swimming, woodworking, and cherishing moments with his family. These simple pleasures allowed him to bask in the warmth of love and create lasting memories that will be forever treasured.
A ceremony to honor and celebrate Pete’s life will be held at Coast Guard Station Ocean City in Ocean City, MD on October 4th, 2023 at 1:00pm. The funeral services will be arranged in collaboration with Coast Guard Station Ocean City, where Pete dedicated a significant portion of his career. Following the ceremony, a reception will be held at the American Legion Post 123 in Berlin, MD.
Pete’s departure has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will forever be remembered as a beacon of love, dedication, and laughter. Though our tears shall fall as we bid him farewell, we take solace in the knowledge that Pete’s spirit will forever remain with us. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
