Marilyn Thompson Manifold
July 20, 1939 – September 24, 2023
Marilyn Avis (Thompson) Manifold passed away peacefully at her son’s home on September 24th, 2023 with a short term battle with cancer. Born in Alymer-Onterio, Canada on July 20th, 1939 to Charles Hester and Katherine Elizabeth Thompson (Blankenship), she was raised in Sutherlin, Virgina and graduated from Halifax County High School, VA Class of 1958. She moved to the District of Columbia area after graduating high school at the age of 17 years old to pursue a career with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). She also worked for Honeywell and retired as an Executive Secretary for the Department of Agriculture in 2002.
She married Samuel Thomas Manifold Jr. from Deale Maryland, and had two beautiful children, Samuel T. Manifold III and Donna Jean Conner (Manifold). In her past-times she loved ballroom dancing, duckpin bowling, reading non-fiction books and spending quality time spoiling her four grandchildren, (Sean A. Manifold, Morgan J. Conner, Elle M. Conner, and Christian T. Manifold).
She was preceded in death by her mother and father (Charles H. Thompson and Katherine E. Thompson (Blankenship) of Sutherlin, VA.
She is survived by her son Samuel T. Manifold III, wife Ginger K. Manifold, grandsons Sean A. Manifold and Christian T. Manifold, of Prince Frederick Maryland. Her daughter Donna J. Conner (Manifold), husband John W. Conner, granddaughters Morgan J. Conner and Elle M. Conner of Prince Frederick Maryland. Brother Charles H. Thompson Jr., wife (Cindy Thompson), Nephew (Charles Thompson) wife Caitlin Thompson, great nephews Cole and Eli Thompson of South Carolina and Casey M Thompson Schwartz and husband Charles Schwarz, great nephews Chase and Carter of North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, Marilyn’s family asks that donations in her name be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.

I’m am so sorry for your loss. I met Marilyn when Ginger babysat my daughter Tiffany about 20 years ago, she was such a sweet lady and the kids loved her. I remember she made the best chocolate chip cookies.Sending prayers to her family 🙏

So sorry to hear of her passing. She was my Mother’s cousin and we were pretty close years ago. I have many fond memories of time spent with her.

So sorry for your family’s loss. I enjoyed our times watching our granddaughters dance. She was so proud of her grandchildren.
