Joann Mary Dahle
December 5, 1955 – September 7, 2023
Joann Mary Dahle, 67, of Prince Frederick, Maryland passed away on September 7, 2023 at Calvert Health Medical Center. She was born on December 5, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Oscar L. and Mary Ann Valdivia. She grew up living down the street from Memorial Stadium which started her love for baseball and the Orioles that persisted her entire life. Joann and her husband, Allen (Chip), held season tickets to the Orioles for the past 5 years. Joann was also proud of her Irish heritage, which fueled her love for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Joann graduated from Nursing School at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore in 1976. She married Chip on April 16, 1983. Joann started working at Calvert Memorial Hospital that same year and worked there until she retired in 2018. In 2005, Joann was certified as the 1st Critical Care Nurse in Calvert County. Joann and Chip moved from Baltimore to Calvert County in 1984 and started their family with sons Timothy and Jon.
Joann was a Lacrosse Mom and very active in her children’s sports. When her kids were growing up, if any of their friends had health problems, they would always call her before going to the doctors. She was an extremely caring person which extended to everyone she met. She was a very good listener and had a great sense of humor. After her retirement, she enjoyed her yearly trips to Ocean City, MD.
Joann is survived by her loving husband, Chip, her sons, Timothy and Jon, as well as sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Darrell Freels.
The family will receive friends on Sunday September 10, 2023 from 2-4 PM, and Monday September 11, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Rausch Funeral Home, 4405 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, Maryland. Joann was a wonderful nurse. I feel blessed to have worked with Joann and have the memories of our time together at Calvert Memorial Hospital. My sincere sympathy to her family and friends that are left behind. My prayers and thoughts are you all.
We graduated in 1976 from UMH SON and I will always remember her love of baseball (the Orioles) and John Denver. Many of us were rather boisterous, Joann was calming and peaceful. Wonderful person and nurse. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family.
