Matthew Leroy “Matt” Weber
January 19, 1957 – April 30, 2023
Matthew Leroy “Matt” Weber, 66, of North Beach passed away April 30, 2023 after a brief illness. Matt was born January 19, 1957 to Gerard James and Marie Ann (Risalli) Weber. Affectionately known as Mad Dog, Matt was a lifelong fireman with Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department, DC Fire Department, and most recently North Beach Volunteer Fire Department where he was currently serving as President. Matt was a loving, son, brother, nephew, and friend and he will be greatly missed.
Matt is survived by his mother Marie Weber of Port St. Lucie, FL, sister Beth Greve and her husband Kurt of Crownsville, brother Richard Weber and his wife Kathy of Sykesville, and nephew Robert Greve. He was preceded in death by his father Gerard Weber, sister Denise Jean Weber and brother Mark Gerard Weber.
On June 10, 2023 the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department (8536 Bayside Road, Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732) will host a celebration of life in honor of President Matt Leroy Weber. The celebration will begin at 1100 with officers and members from visiting fire companies asked to form in the apparatus bay at 1045. Following the celebration services, lunch will be served in Bayview Hall along with water, sodas, and of course Miller Lite. Events will conclude by 1445.
During a life of dedication to the fire service, President Weber served in three city and county departments over a career spanning four decades. While NBVFD acknowledges his death in the line of duty and is saddened at the loss of a brother and leader, June 10 is intended to be a celebration of Matt’s humor and humanity, as well as his excellence as a firefighter
The towns of North Beach and Chesapeake Beach are expected to be full and busy that weekend, including the members from three large Fire Departments celebrating President Weber. Parking for the service will begin at 1000 at the American Legion Post 206 (3330 Chesapeake Beach Rd, Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732), with shuttle service available to NBVFD starting at 1015. Parking starts in the front lot, and all cars at the American Legion must be moved by 1500. As needed, additional parking will be available in the neighborhoods to the west and north of NBVFD.
Departments or individuals wanting to make apparatus or parking arrangements, please contact Assistant Chief Bill Freesland at 410-474-6543.

Matt from the 1st day I met you in the 70’s till the last time I saw you in May 2016, you were always the most friendliest person I ever met. Always a hug and talks about life and oh yea Billy Holland (lol). I was thinking about you a couple of weeks ago, how you were and what you have been up to. When I got the news I had a tear in my eye. Rest easy my dear friend. You truly will be missed. Love and Hugs
Prayers to Matt’s family & Fire Department’s family,
I did not personally know Matt’s but sounds like a very dedicated and a very nice person
On behalf of Benedict VF&RD & Ladies Aux. Our deepest sympathy. Remember when the
calls are dispatched Matt will be your Angel riding with you & Keeping watch over the family
and the departments.
