Raymond Burton Vogts
April 17, 1938 – January 9, 2023
On Monday, January 9, 2023, Raymond Burton Vogts, loving husband and father of two, passed away to heaven. He was 84 years old. After a short battle with cancer, he died peacefully at home in Shady side MD with his loving wife Sara Camille by his side. Ray was born to Emily Louise and Raymond “Jap” Vogts on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1938, Ray was a true “Laurelight” born and raised in Laurel, Maryland. He graduated from Laurel High School in 1956 and went to work for the Pennsylvania railroad upon graduation for 43 years. He met his beautiful wife, Camille Easter (who was also born on Easter Sunday), at the Laurel Rescue Squad where they were volunteers. They married in Birmingham, Alabama on Dec. 29th, 1959. They had Jeffrey and Susan (twins) in 1964 and raised them in Laurel before moving to Shady Side, Maryland in 1988. They have enjoyed their retirement years living in a small community of wonderful friends and family. Ray was an avid reader, loved construction projects, loved hunting and being in the woods at their cabin in West Virginia. Ray leaves behind his loving wife, Camille, twins, Susan Hynes and Jeffrey Vogts. Their spouses Paul Hynes and Kim Vogts. Grandchildren: Madeline and Colin Hynes and Samantha and Aidan Vogts. His Brother David Vogts and wife Lynda Vogts and other extended family members and friends. The family appreciates all the support from their community, family, and friends. Thank you for the cards, flowers, text messages, phone calls, visitors, and food during this time.
