Virginia Rose Brooks
October 13, 1933 – January 3, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virginia Rose Brooks of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland on January 3, 2023 at the age of 89. Virginia Rose Brooks was born Friday October 13, 1933 to the late Carrie Macie (Presson) O’Dell and Robert Newton O’Dell in Ansted, West Virginia. She graduated from Ansted High School and moved to Washington DC at age 17. This is where she met her husband, James M. Brooks. They married in 1954 and moved to District Heights, Maryland and later to Capitol Heights, Maryland where they raised 4 children. She cared for too many children to count in her home while raising her own children. As her children married and started their own families they moved one by one to Calvert County Maryland. She was not far behind them as they all settled in Chesapeake Beach, MD. She spent her days surrounded by her grandchildren teaching them life lessons. She loved gardening, sewing, yard sales and throwing get-togethers for her family. She also enjoyed Forest Memorial United Methodist Church where she was an active member since 1961. She spoke kindly, laughed often and loved always. She was a true Christian. She lived her faith and always was there for others. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Joanne Secrist and grandson Joseph Brooks. She is survived by her brother Robert Thomas O’Dell, his wife,(Laura O’Dell) of Summersville WV and her children, James Brooks, and wife (Amy Brooks), Belinda Simms, and husband (Wayne Simms Sr.), Dawn Gibson, and husband (Jeffrey Gibson Sr.) and John Brooks, all of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Wayne Simms Jr., David Simms, Chelsea Simms, Jeffrey Gibson Jr., Preston James Gibson, Shelby Rose Camp and husband,(Jacob Camp), and one great grandchild, Gryphon Camp.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to West Lake Cemetery Fund in c/o Robert Wilson

Thinking of the family. We all loved Virginia. Always was nice to have her and John come to our family reunions.
