Darren Keith South, Sr., 57, of Chesapeake Beach passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 2, 2022. Born on September 19, 1965 in Talbot County, MD, he was the son of Larry South and the late Dixie Lee (O’Donnell) Reichel.

Darren grew up in Huntingtown, MD with his mom and 2 brothers on the family farm of his step-father, the late Rudi Reichel. He graduated from Calvert High School in 1983.  In 1984 he married Tracy Alford. Darren and Tracy would welcomed their son, Darren Jr., in 1987.

In 1985, Darren began his lifelong career in the flooring industry. Many would consider him an expert in the trade, and he was an incredibly talented and knowledgeable installer. Due to his years working on the farm, he had a work ethic instilled in him from a young age that he carried with him through life. He worked hard and took pride in everything he did. He would do anything for anybody without ever expecting, or accepting, anything in return.

Darren is survived by his son, Darren South, Jr. (Tiffanie Grinder); father: Larry South; brothers Jerry (Christy) South of Annapolis and Rudi (Mesha Cox) Reichel of Huntingtown; grandson: Gunner; partner of 6 years, Shannon Carle, and her two children, Cameron and Gianna; 3 nieces, 2 nephews and several aunts and uncles.
