Richard Elsworth Young, Jr. “Buster”
April 9, 1989 – November 29, 2021
Richard “Buster” was born to Richard Elsworth Young, Sr and Deborah Goodwin Credeur on April 9, 1989 in Prince Frederick, Maryland. He lived his life with out-loud enthusiasm, love and compassion. Richard prized and respected creation, both of God and of human hands. At 10 years old he announced that he had gotten a job as a volunteer at the Chesapeake Beach (Maryland) Railway Museum. The museum experiences began his appreciation for the skills people developed and the products they produced. He loved the architecture of old buildings and, in more recent times, he and his father restored Richard, Sr.’s 1985 GMC pickup truck and had just put it on the road. We all know that family and friends were his chief loves.
Richard embodied the phrase, “Friend of all the world,” which described a character in the book, “Kim,” by Rudyard Kipling. His uncle Buddy said of him, “He spoke only the good of people; he focused on only their good side.” Richard was also an animal lover. As a child he loved the cats he had in the home. He also enjoyed the farm animals and pets on the Goodwin farm. He had recently left his retail career in which he loved the customers he served, to now work on a horse and alpaca farm.
But above all else Richard was a “people person” who championed the needs of his family, friends and those from marginalized communities. He helped organize a float and little gifts at Christmastime for those in trailer parks in the Wayson’s Corner area of Anne Arundel County (MD). He had a strong sense of social justice and supported the gay community and people of color.
Richard is mourned by his mother and father, brothers James “J.C.”, Chase and Ryan Flurry, his step-father Glen Credeur, step-siblings, Glenda and Daniel, and very numerous living Young, Goodwin and Credeur relations. His hundreds of friends have also joined the family in profound mourning of Richard’s passing and the Young, Goodwin, and Credeur families extend their heartfelt appreciation to all who shared their love of Richard and have sought to comfort his family.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Whitman-Walker Clinic in Washington (www.Whitman-Walker.org), the American Heart Association (www.Heart.org ), and the National World War II Museum (https://www.nationalww2museum.org/) in New Orleans in honor of his grandfather James Roy Young and great-grandfather William V. Goodwin, Jr.

God called for Buster much earlier than any of us could have imagined. As we all know, God works in mysterious ways.
We were thankful for the many times we spent with Buster getting to know him for ourselves. He was such a positive person. A person full of love, laughter and compassion. We will miss him..
Debbie, Glen and to Busters immediate family members and friends in Maryland, God’s speed with the time it takes to make sense of this and the understanding that Buster was needed in a much higher presence. Know that Buster touched many people from the northeast all the way to southern Texas. His bright smile and love for life touched us all.
Our prayers are with you all..

Glen and Deb, all my love and prayers are being sent your way in dealing with Buster’s passing. May God give you comfort in carrying this terrible cross. I pray that he is now resting in the arms of God. Kelli, Katie, and I love you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Richard will be missed and I am so grateful GOD let him be in my life whenever I shopped at Dollar General. I will miss his smiling face, our wonderful talks but will cherish them. Thanks for sharing your wonderful son with others.
