Every morning when going to work and every evening when returning, I pass by Vernon’s “art work.” You see, he bricked the entrance to my front door and added the retaining wall beside the driveway just a few years back. I can see him now laying brick and Junior Lubbis mixing the mud. To the family, an unknown number of those who knew him and who know you send our thoughts and prayers your way.
I was so sorry to learn of Vernon’s passing he would sit on his front porch and my husband, Kenny Dixon, would go down and visit Vernon and he would tell stories to Vernon and they both with just laugh.
I would ask Vernon how he was feeling and he would say Fair to Midland or not good at all. Vernon Senior loved Mr Percy and would give him treats so he knew to go to Vernon. My heart goes out to June and the family.
So sorry to learn of Vernon’s passing, He was indeed one of the original Beach Boys. Louie remembered a time when the Terrills lived in Owings. A few guys went to pick up Vernon from home. Whoever was driving turned the car over on its side across the road from Vernon’s house. The boys got out and and righted the car when Mrs. Terrill came out of the house yelling: Vernon is not going with you boys today. When we pass on, so many memories are left to share. Whether they be a school friend, basketball player, brick mason with artistic flair, a pal to remember or just an all around good guy. And especially, a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. We pray for peace and comfort for all of you. Rest in Peace Vernon.
We were saddened to hear about Vernon’s passing. He really was the Ultimate Beach Kid.One of my most favorite people.I have missed seeing him since they moved south…My heartfelt condolences to June and the kids.My son and Vernon Jr. were forever friends.God bless and keep him.

Mrs. Terill , Connie, Vernon Jr. , Please accept my sincere condolences. And my apologies for not being able to pay my respects. I found out after the services. I liked Vernon alot. I worked for him several times, toting brick and block and mixing mud back in the day.. He was always was good to me. Honored to have known him. Sorry for your loss.
Our condolences to June and the family. Got to know Vernon very well when his family lived in Owings. Spent a lot of time shooting hoops, especially “Horse” where he beat me most of the time. Vernon was always easy to laugh and a great person to hang-out with while doing a lot of fun things. Missed him a lot when his family moved to the the Beach. May he Rest In Peace.
