Betty Mae Bowen

Betty R. Bowen, 88, of Prince Frederick, Maryland passed away on September 30,2020 at her home in Prince Frederick, Maryland.
She was born on November 3, 1931 in Prince Frederick, Maryland to George Frank and Mae Roberta (Buckmaster) Rawlings. She enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved reading, music, and going down on the family farm- Meadowcreek Farm.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William T. Bowen and infant daughter Susan Diane Bowen.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Lynn, sons, William Stuart and Harry Michael Bowen and his wife Theresa. Grandchildren; Bonnie M. Donahue and her husband Jeff, William S. “Bo” Bowen and his wife Heather and Ashley Bowen Scott. Great grandchildren; Taylor Elizabeth Stock, Colin Michael Gribble, Logan Thomas Bowen, Fiona Claire Scott and Alana Paige Scott. Step Great grandchildren; Tyler Hite, Nyla Christiani, and Delilah Escalona, Sister Esther R. Cox, Sister in law, Martha B. Jones, Brother in law Douglas Rodney “D.O.” Bowen and his wife Jean, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Educated in Calvert County Public Schools, she worked as a Secretary, before she married her husband William, and worked as a Library Aide at Calvert Middle School for 8 years, but her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
A life long member of the United Methodist Church, she gave her life to Christ at the age of 9 years old. She was a member of Waters Memorial United Methodist Church and for a brief time a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher. Returning to Waters, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Church Historian, and Librarian. Also serving as Gospel Choir Director, she loved to produce and direct the Christmas and Palm Sunday pageants. She loved her music and enjoyed directing the Gospel Choir. She played the piano and organ by ear. She enjoyed helping with the Fundraisers at Waters and loved to quilt, including making three quilts at the same time to give to each one of her children for Christmas.
She and her husband William were married for 61 and ½ years and he was the love of her life.
