Ms. Cheryl will be missed by many, but especially by me. When I arrived with the Navy in September of 2017, Ms. Cheryl was the person who walked the halls of the Pentagon giving me history and advise. She always told me to make it a point to meet someone new each day I entered the building and to never burn bridges because you never know when you may need to call upon someone for a favor. She truly was a work mother with a source of information, knowledge, compassion and understanding. I missed giving Ms. Cheryl hugs and walking with her to get coffee while she and I would talk. To the family, know that your mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was a real inspiration to me and others she met. She cared so deeply for those she worked with and would correct you with love when needed. Ms. Cheryl you will always be loved and missed and no one can take your place in our hearts.
My sister from another is what you always called me. You were my go to, my friend and confidant. You taught and trained me on the ways of the Pentagon . I will truly miss you and there will forever be a missing part of my heart. Love you. RIP!!
Cheryl I will forever miss you!!! You have been my cube mate for the last 5 years at least. I miss sitting across from you and you calling me over to your desk. You met my mom and sister and the first thing you said is, ” I’m her white mother” and that you were. I love you and miss you dearly. Tanya and Andrew, Cheryl talked about you guys so much that I feel like we all know you and you are apart of all our families. Your mom was loved by so many here at the Pentagon. She is the Pentagon!!!
Tonya,
I am so sorry to learn of your mother’s passing. She was the rock of your family – she loved you dearly and was so proud of you. May the many memories of her comfort you during this difficult time. My cousin Cheryl was one of a kind – she said what she wanted and meant what she said!
Cheryl Cox was the finest customer Verizon ever experienced! She was an awesome person always wanting the best for the Navy! I will never forget my last conversation with her in the fall of 2014 after retuning from the Army! I told her I was going to retire and she said, you can’t you are my Account Manager! She was the best! May she always be remembered as the best! RIP!
Cheryl Cox was an ICON within the Pentagon. Always exerting her wit and will to support the Secretary and his staff with a sense of pride and urgency that was unsurpassable. I enjoyed her support (most of the time!) and will always remember her standing on the Pentagon Mall steps welcoming me back to the Department of the Navy! Her smile was infectious and dedication to duty commendable. Her efforts following the terrorist attack at the Pentagon on 9-11 were but one hallmark of selfless service during her career. She brought great credit on herself, the Pentagon, and the Department of the Navy.
My condolences to the family on the loss of Ms. Cheryl. I have known Cheryl for most of my time in the Pentagon. She was my go to when I needed help for my office. Cheryl was quick and to the point! I was always glad to see Cheryl in the morning in the hallway on her way to get coffee! She will always be missed and remembered by many. May God bless you with His comfort and peace.
Ms Cheyl will be dearly missed. I will always look back on my 10 years with the Navy and remember how much fun she made meeting in the halls. She always was able to share some knowledge about protocols service, great stories about the building and the area. She was simply a hoot and was a beloved part of my professional career. Thank you for sharing her with us.
My deepest sympathy to Cheryl’s family. Please know that she was loved by many. There was no one like her. I met her in 2000 when I returned to the U.S. after 15 years overseas. My office was in leased spaces & I had phone issues. The name that flowed from everyone’s mouth to resolve it was, Cheryl Cox. She was known by all, as the one to get it done. She arrived, issue was promptly resolved & she became my go to person no matter where I worked for Navy in the D.C. area; Crystal City, Wash. Navy Yard, Pentagon. It was always Cheryl to get it done. She was such an AWESOME person. She will truly be missed. May she rest in peace…job well done.
Cheryl was an example of a woman who Rocked! She did not except NO for an answer… and a get it done type of person! I met Cheryl back in 1996, when I arrived at the Pentagon on the PENREN Relocation Team and she was a “BIG” part of my success during the PENREN Projects!
She had a love for her daughters and grandson like no other, and would often talk about them! I am saddened to hear of her passing and will miss her dearly. She left a Lasting Impression in the Pentagon…..and her name will ring through the years to come….
Tonya and Andrew be blessed and know that she loved you both to the fullest! We all know you at the Pentagon….
