Jody Lynn Kelly
June 27, 1965 – August 29, 2019
Jody Lynn (McCoy) Kelly, 54, of Lusby, MD passed away on August 29, 2019 at George Washington University Hospital. She was born June 27, 1965 in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Thomas Keith McCoy, Jr. and Lois Ann (Helmic) Pridgeon. Both parents and her loving husband, Melvin “Michael” Kelly, have preceded her in death.
Jody graduated from Monmouth Regional High School in 1983. She served the Federal Government as a Secretary and Administrative Assistant for NavAir System Command in Washington, DC at the Navy Yard and later at Pax River Naval Base. Jody received many awards recognizing her for outstanding service and support throughout her career. She was very proud of her top level security clearance and took great pride in the work she performed while employed.
Jody married the love of her life on May 27, 1989 when she said “I do” to Melvin “Michael” Kelly. He and Jody were married for over 27 wonderful years. Together they enjoyed fishing, traveling, celebrating with family and friends, and being together with each other. Jody is known for her sense of humor, witty personality, and love of sports. She loved talking with family and friends, even if only to provide the latest news and weather updates.
Jody leaves to cherish her memory, her three bonus children Daphney Kelly, Kimberly Kelly-Grant, and Joseph Kelly; son-in-law Allen J. Grant. She also leaves three grandchildren, Nicole (James), Jasmine (Shane), and Garret, as well as several great-grandchildren. Her brothers, Tracy McCoy and Tim McCoy (Melanie), sister, Shannon Harley (Tim) and several bonus brothers deeply miss her. Jody had a special bond with her nephews and niece: James, Timea, Mandy, Ashley, Shane, Kelly, and Thomas. Jody’s two bonus mothers, Mary and Judy, also have many fond memories to cherish. She leaves behind a host of great-nieces and nephews as well as many beloved family and friends.
Jody will truly be missed by the many people that knew and loved her.
