John C. Richowsky, born on February 5, 1946, in Passaic, New Jersey, to John and Bernice Richowsky, passed away after a brief battle with cancer. He resided on Patience Place Farm in Huntingtown, Maryland, where he cherished the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay.
John pursued his passion for English, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University in 1967. He continued his academic journey at Duke University, where he obtained his Master’s degree in English in 1969 and later earned his Doctor of Philosophy in 1975.
John had a diverse career, practicing law and sharing his love for learning as an adjunct professor at the College of Southern Maryland. He most recently contributed to the academic growth of students through the tutoring and study hall program at The Calverton School.
John found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, and treasured conversations with his best friend, Andrew Wawn. Walks on the beach with his loyal dog and daily exercise strolls brought him peace and fulfillment. Living on a family farm overlooking the Chesapeake Bay was a source of great happiness for him.
John’s life was marked by intellectual curiosity, a deep appreciation for nature, and meaningful connections with family and friends. His legacy will be carried on by those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake in John’s memory.
