Irene Rita Divver

Irene Rita Divver, 81, of Hanover, PA passed away on September 15, 2016 at the Genesis Gettysburg Center in Gettysburg, PA. She was born on August 3, 1935 in Wilkes Barre, PA to John and Rita (Weyna) Evans. Irene was the second oldest of nine children. Her family moved to Washington DC where she completed her education at St. Dominic’s High School.
Irene was an avid bowler competing across the country. She was inducted into the USBCA Bowling Hall of Fame in 1993. She managed Rinaldi’s Bowling Center in Riverdale, MD for approximately 30 years retiring at the age of 62. She then moved back to her home state of PA.
Irene’s other interests included shopping, traveling (especially Hawaii), reading and watching Redskins football. Irene was a member of the same card club for over 50 years developing friendships as strong as family. Irene was a member of the M.J. Hummel Club acquiring over 200 treasured figurines. Irene formed one of the Hanover PA Chapters of the Red Hat Society, serving as Queen Mum for several years! Irene’s social calendar ranged from elegant tea parties to your local crab feast!
She was preceded in death by her oldest son Norman Thomas Divver and her brothers John and Fred Evans. She is survived by her son, Donald Divver of Mechanicsville, MD; grandsons Donnie and Matthew Divver; her daughter, Irene O’Brien and husband Patrick of Sunderland, MD; granddaughter Kelly and grandson Conor O’Brien; her daughter Norine Henrie and husband David of Hanover PA; granddaughter Samantha Thompson and husband Ben; grandsons Travis and Michael Henrie.
She is also survived by her siblings Gene, David, Donald, Mary Ann, George and Helen.
From grandchild #1 Irene decided to take the name “TuTu” meaning Grandparent in Hawaiian. Bragging about each of her 7 grandchildren’s latest accomplishments became her favorite hobby.
A memorable lady, Irene “TuTu” Divver will be greatly missed!
