Sally Martin Hamilton

Sally’s mother and my mother (“Connie” Odie Turner Rodgers) were friends for life even in Solomon’s and graduated together. Sally also stayed with us a couple of times at our house in Springfield VA during the early 70’s. Also several of her sisters stayed with us. Our family also visited their home and joined for backyard bbq in Hyattsville MD. We had to go to church on Sunday morning and we did. Well, We got there. Right out the back door smoking and yipping. (Can I tell that story 53 yrs later?) I think I still remember all the siblings and there were 10. We last saw her Mother, Katheryn, and Aunt Mary Ellen in Chester VA when I planned my mother’s surprise girls dinner. Whether we saw them or not… they were all family. Sally had the biggest brightest smile and if you had not heard her laugh in a while you would instantly still know it was Sally laughing. I think the last time I saw Sally was at her mothers 65th surprise birthday party in Solomons. Later went to the Chesapeake Ranch Club to one of their homes. We did go there also when we were very young to swim and eat. I remember swinging from a rope attached to a huge tree into the water.  Those moments in our life that come right to the forefront and bring a smile. A place in our puzzle in life. This one hurts and one day we will all be in Heaven listening to that beautiful laugh again. Darlene Rodgers, Big hugs to the entire family. Time really is precious.

I remember Sally has a kind and beautiful person with a heart of gold. My thoughts go out to her family. Her brother Steve and I grew up together as teenagers in the seventies and still are freinds to this day. God bless Sally and her wonderful children.

I am so sorry to hear about Sally and my heart goes out to Uncle Joe and all of her family. Sending love and prayers to you all.

I remember growing up on 68th Avenue, Sally, Jim and their children were my grandparents neighbors. Sally would babysit me after school, her home was like a second home. Always so welcoming, I often thought of her and her family when they moved away. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing, My condolences to her family.

I am saddened to hear of Sally’s passing. I lived on the same street that Sally and all her brothers and sisters lived. Sally and I played together as children. I was always amazed at their family and all the love they shared in that small house on 68th ave. I am so glad that I grew up with her and even though we didn’t stay in touch, I will always remember her smile and the fun times we had as kids. I have been blessed to know Sally, a beautiful person, inside and out. She will be surely missed. God rest her soul.

Sally was my first friend when we moved to Lusby in 2002. I will forever remember her laughter and her smile. Rest In Peace Sally.

What precious memories I have of Sally and family. I’ll never forget opening my door on Greenvale Parkway only to find Sally holding Candice…. whom I had failed to pick up from Woodlawn Elem. (I was home with a newborn, but still) I broke into tears and with that infectious smile she comforted me with her unforgettable hugs. So many more memories. I’m certain that she was welcomed into heaven by Jesus with a smile on His face. Welcome home sweet sister, we shall meet again. Love to all of her family, along with continuous prayers.
