JAMES DEAN (RIDDLE) BACHARACH
October 6 – Obituary: Kathryn Marie (Riddle) Bayne
Aunt Kathy’s generosity of spirit was a healing kindness to me as a boy, and throughout my life when I remembered her. The home in Englewood FL that she and Uncle Bobby built with their own hands for themselves, their daughter Judy, and Cousin Iris, was a blessing to me every time I visited. When I was a boy my father (Kathryn’s brother, Lee) told me that when He was 16 He was with his dying Grandfather who began speaking to his wife, my great grandmother, who was already dead, and thought my father did not see his long deceased grandmother there in the room, my father believed his grandfather did. Then my father told me the only words he ever said to me about my Great Grandmother, saying she was Indian, with long straight black hair down to the back of her knees, and said he always saw her with her hair up, and that she only took it down in private. I think of this as I remember Aunt Kathy, because she always wore her hair up, even when She was at Home. Aunt Kathy’s Grandmother survived the campaign of Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing carried out against Native American Peoples and went on to marry a White man and raise a family. Aunt Kathy’s life was a Victory that lives on in those She touched with her love and kindness. I imagine Aunt Kathy’s Grandmother there with her when she dying. God bless their souls.

I love you Maw Maw Always!
You were the only grandmother I had, I named you and Paw Paw. You were a gift from God and truly amazing to my children and I. You always tried to be as close as you were allowed to all of us. We went on some great trips together. I love you so much and there will forever be a hole in my heart. Love Frances
